Honorable William H. and Madeline W. Murphy Scholarship Endowment

The Honorable William H. and Madeline W. Murphy Scholarship Endowment was established in June 2005 through the generosity of The Honorable William H. Murphy, Jr., Class of 1969 and William H. Murphy, III, to be a lasting legacy that honors their parents’ and grandparents’ contributions and achievements in promoting diversity within the legal profession.

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for entering first-year students and enrolled students at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. For entering first-year students, the scholarships shall be awarded to students exhibiting academic excellence and who have been active in a student organization that celebrates and fosters diversity. For second- or third-year students, scholarships shall be awarded to students exhibiting academic excellence and who are active in a student organization that celebrates and fosters diversity among the student body. The scholarship may be awarded to more than one recipient.
