Bennett Gilbert Gaines Scholarship Fund
The Bennett Gilbert Gaines Scholarship Fund was established through the generosity of Robert A. Manekin, Class of 1973, to honor the memory of his School of Law classmate, Bennett Gilbert Gaines. The purpose of the fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships for students enrolled in the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
A lifelong Baltimorean, Bennett Gilbert Gaines practiced real estate and commercial law for more than two decades, while writing more than a dozen treatises. Among his major works was a code of professional civility he wrote for the Maryland Bar Association that has been adopted by several other states.
