Leadership Scholars Legacy Endowment

The scholarship was established in 2008 when three Leadership Scholars (Marcus Wang ‘08, Robert Vela ’09 and Alexis Slater Storey ’09) wanted to express their gratitude and thank the many alumni and friends who give generously each year in support of student scholarships. Their goal was to establish an endowment for future Leadership Scholars. Inspired by the selflessness and generosity shown by the three Leadership Scholars, Henry Hopkins ’68 matches every gift and pledge made by current and alumni Leadership Scholars to the Leadership Scholars Legacy Endowment every year. Mr. Hopkins is a member of the law school’s Board of Visitors. He is also a staunch supporter of the University of Maryland, and a philanthropic leader with a storied legacy of community service.

The purpose of this fund is to provide endowed scholarship support for students enrolled in the School of Law. Students must meet one or more of the following criteria: demonstrated academic achievement, equivalent leadership qualities or professional experience (as in the case of students who have been in the workplace for some time since earning their undergraduate degree), or a desire to study public interest law.
