Zabelle S. Beard Scholarship Endowment

The Zabelle S. Beard Scholarship Endowment was established in 2012. The purpose of the fund is to provide endowed support for scholarships at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, which are open to all qualified candidates without regard to sex, race, religion or ethnicity or any other criteria that cannot lawfully be the basis of a decision concerning a scholarship award. The Beard Scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to a student who is enrolled full time, has the preparation and aptitude to succeed in the health sciences, and who is of good standing with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. It is the preference of the donor that recipients live in Maryland, be reputable, and be well recommended by faculty. In particular, the donor has specified that the nursing students selected for the Beard Scholarship be caring, dedicated, compassionate and committed to service to mankind.
